    Hi,

Small dogs mature at around 12 months, medium sized dogs around 18 months and large breed dogs they mature around 18-24 months, although they do all their growing height wise up to 18 months they will start to fill out up to 2 1/2 years and if you have a male you will notice the head will become broad around 2 to 2.5 years of age.

Rottweilers are usually late developers. My bitch is 6 this month and its only in the last 12 months I would consider her fully mature and 'finished'. Our male, Blue is 28 months old and he is nowhere near finished!! I would think he wont be fully mature until he is around 3-4 years old, perhaps even longer as he is a really big boy. The longer they take to mature the better it is for the larger breeds, gives the bones etc time to grow slowly to help prevent any problems they may be prone to. That is him in my avatar! The rotts usually have their full height by around 12 months of age, but the filling out of the chest and head can take a long time.

An uncastrated male rottie will not fully develop until approx 3/4 yrs old as Maddie has said above.

They get this final chest (sprung rib), neck and head growth at this age.

If castrated then they never really make full suze and also if they are full size and then castrated then they lose some bulk.

Bitches also will not fully develop until later.

Vegas is doing brill she is growing nicely and although we have had a few hic ups with her not eating she is doing great now, i think it had something to do with gaining a new dog into the household and her feeling a bit left out, im glad to report she is doing very well now she is getting extra tcl and is loving every min of it!
